Remember the amazing story of American gold-medal gymnast Simone Biles? As a child, her mother was in rehab and her father was never part of her life, which landed her in the Texas foster care system at age four.
That’s when her grandfather and his wife, concerned about Simone’s well-being, adopted her and raised her full-time, giving her the love and support she needed. Of course, from there it’s a storybook plot. They discover her incredible talent and nurture it, and eventually she became a world-class gymnast who made America proud.
It’s just one story, but it shows that you never know what can happen when grandparents have the courage, leadership and sacrifice to do what their grandchildren need.
