As grandparents, we share a lot of very similar situations and experiences. And there are a few things we’ve found that differentiate grandmothers and grandfathers.

There are always exceptions, but grandmothers tend to excel at being history keepers of the family, providing traditions, and gathering the family for meals. Grandfathers often instill a strong work ethic, emphasize patriotism, and provide laughter and practical jokes.

Again, there are exceptions. All of these are positive ways that any grandparent can be involved in his or her grandchild’s life. And ideally, the differences are complementary as both grandparents seek to bond with and bless their grandkids.

It’s also very clear that every grandparenting story is unique. And you know what? The real difference maker is your personal investment in the life of your grandchild. And don’t you just love making those investments?

That’s what we’re all about at Grandkids Matter.
